Clemson President James Barker made an economic advancement announcement Wednesday in Charleston. Barker announced a new workforce development program with other colleges across the state.
The program will allow Clemson to join forces with technical colleges in the state to help train workers looking for jobs in aviation and aeronautics.
The money will come from a $2 million grant from the National Science Foundation and will create the new Center for Workforce Development. The centers will expand the programs to include virtual classrooms at the participating technical colleges.
“At each of these locations, the next generation of automotive and aviation technicians will be taught through virtual classrooms and the latest personalized e-learning tools,” Clemson President James Barker told reporters in a press conference Wednesday.
Clemson will work with Greenville Technical College, Florence-Darlington Technical College and Trident Technical College.
