We published earlier in the season that, unlike the wives of candidates, Michelle Bachmann’s husband had not been her surrogate in Palmetto State campaigning.
Today that changes, as Michele Bachmann’s paperwork and her filing fee for the primary will be hand delivered at 4 p.m. by her husband, Marcus Bachmann, to the SCGOP headquarters at 1913 Marion St. in Columbia. Following the filing, Mr. Bachmann will deliver a short statement to members of the media.
Newt Gingrich is back in South Carolina. His first stop: a Chick-Fil-A Restaurant on Pelham Road in Greenville. At the fast-food restaurant, he is scheduled to lead a 2:00 p.m. lunch table discussion about the future of jobs and the economy in South Carolina.
Gingrich will be the guest speaker at an Aiken Republican Club dinner at the Houndslake Country Club in Aiken. A book signing with Gingrich and his wife Callista will follow the dinner.
Saturday morning, he will be at the Florence County GOP and the Florence Tea Party will host a town hall meeting at Bazen’s Family Restaurant, with the public invited. He’ll then go to Myrtle Beach for the Myrtle Beach Tea Party Pig Roast and Meet & Greet at the Chesterfield Inn.
That same afternoon at 2:00 p.m., Callista Gingrich give a speech to the South Carolina Federation of Republican Women at the Westin Poinsett, downtown Greenville.
