Police say a 10-year-old boy who was trick-or-treating pulled a gun on a woman Halloween night in Aiken. The woman told authorities she recognized some kids who had come to her place for candy and she joked that she was going to take their treats.
“The juvenile, at the time, produced a Tech 0.9-millimeter handgun, made a profanity to the adult, and said you would not take the candy,” Aiken Public Safety Lt. David Turno told Columbia affiliate WVOC.
Turno said the gun was not loaded but the boy did have a clip of ammunition. He was taken to the police station and was turned over to his parents. Meanwhile, the victim said the boy’s 10-year-old brother admitted he also had a real gun. According to the police report, he threw it in some bushes, where officers found it this morning.
“The gun, we understand through the investigation, belonged to a grandfather,” Turno said, “It was their property and he had taken it unknowingly.”
Neither boy’s name was given because both are minors. No charges have been filed so far, but the incident is still under investigation.
