GOP Presidential hopeful Minnesota Congressman Michele Bachmann’s foreign policy speech aboard the USS Yorktown on the Charleston harbor was interrupted by about 30 Occupy Wall Street members chanting “mic check!” A day later, Bachmann spoke to Charleston affiliate WTMA giving her reaction to the protesters.
“What I saw yesterday when I was giving a major foreign policy address aboard the USS Yorktown–here we were it was the 236th birthday of the origination of the Marine Corps, the day before Veterans Day, I was surrounded by America’s heroes and Occupy Wall Street stood up and gave a creed advocating for more Marxism,” says Bachmann.
Bachmann says she loves to come to South Carolina and she will not identify all South Carolinians with the behavior of the occupiers.
“They completely stand against everything the United States is for. That’s what we saw yesterday. It was wrong, and ultimately what do these people want? They want Marxism in the United States. I want freedom and I want liberty and I want our Constitution, just like those great heroes who were on board that ship,” says Bachmann.
Bachmann will participate in a GOP debate this weekend at Wofford College.
