Senator Glenn McConnell has appointed a panel to consider his “Making South Carolina Fiscally Fit Agenda,” and its members will hear from the public tonight.
McConnell, the SC Senate President Pro Tem wants his subcommittee to consider legislative initiatives to place a constitutional cap on state spending, conduct a streamlining review of state government, enact a taxpayer fairness act, a deficit prevention act, and a trust protection act. He has also put zero-based budgeting on list. Most of his ideas target the activities of Cabinet-level agencies.
The panel, a mix of key Republicans and Democrats from around the state, will meet at the Gressette Building at the Statehouse complex, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
