TD Bank announced Wednesday that it will expand the bank’s operations at its main campus off Interstate 85 in Greenville, said to create more than 1,400 jobs over the next five years.
The campus will undergo $17.1 million in rennovations for three of its buildings starting in early 2012. As construction is completed, workers will relocate throughout the campus, with the remaining jobs expected to filled by 2017. The renovations will focus on sustainable design features, in an effort to attain Leadership in Energy and Design (LEED) Gold certification.
Greenville was just recently established as the company’s regional headquaters in 2011, after TD purchased Carolina First bank. The company also expanded its small business lending teams, mortgage operations, and bank operations in the state last year.
“This is a major investment in the future of TD Bank,” President and CEO Bharet Masrani told reporters, “A Greenville regional hub will provide us with a strong foundation to accomodate our growth. As our customer base grows, we continue to grow with them.”
TD Bank currently has approximately 1,300 employees and 81 stores in South Carolina.
The bank has also announced that it will expand by more than 200 positions in Lexington.
