Congressman Ron Paul took the top spot in the recent Charleston County GOP Straw Poll. The County GOP Chair Linn Bennett says the vote took place at the GOP Executive Committee meeting on November 14.
“He had 44 followers show up. I believe we had a total of 128 people there–115 of them turned in ballots. I don’t know why some of them choose to not participate. 44 of them went to Ron Paul and 33 of them went to Newt,” says Bennett.
Paul supporters often show up to stack straw polls.
Bennett says this kind of poll doesn’t always tell the tale of who will win the nomination. But, she was pleased to see the younger voters there.
“I hope they will stay involved because a lot of them were young college students who understand their future is on the brink, and it was a pleasure to have them there,” says Bennett.
Ron Paul also picked up a win at the San Diego Straw Poll.
