Former House Speaker and Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich spoke to a large crowd of Upstate business leaders in Greenville today. The current GOP front-runner touched on a number of hot topics in that region, including immigration.

A new CNN/Time poll shows Gingrich gaining a greater lead in South Carolina. He now leads Mitt Romney by 22 points. He re-stated what has become his unofficial campaign slogan:

Gingrich spoke at the Pacific Gateway Capitol Group in Greenville today. While there, he announced the hiring of Edward Cousar and Caroline Vanvick.
Cousar, who is the Executive Director of the Black Republican PAC, will serve as South Carolina Coalitions Coordinator and will also focus on the African-American community.
Vanvick, a Greenville native, will be the Co-regional director in the Upstate. She was a junior consultant at Sherlock & Gaines Consulting Group, working with state and national campaigns.
