GOP presidential hopeful Rick Perry spoke at the USS Yorktown on the Charleston harbor Thursday. Many were there just to hear what the Texas governor had to say.
David Jones hasn’t decided yet who he is voting for in the South Carolina GOP Primary in January.
“I’m here to just listen. That’s all I’m doing. I’m listening to what every candidate has to say as much as I can. (Reporter: Are you a Perry supporter?) Don’t know yet,” says Jones.
Jones says he’s undecided, but leaning toward Newt Gingrich as his choice. For people like Jones, Perry had this message:
“I ask them to give me a second look. We haven’t spent a lot of time in South Carolina–we’ve been focused on those two early states. You’re going to see me a lot, and they’re going to get to find out a whole lot about me. Not only about my faith, but also about the economic policies we put in place in Texas,” says Perry.
Jones says he liked what he heard from Perry on his military and economic plans.
“I agree with everything he said. I may be leaning toward him because of what he said today,” says Jones.
A recent Winthrop poll shows Perry is currently running third in the South Carolina GOP race. He’s trailing leader Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney.
