In snow-covered Iowa, the race is heating up leading to the first, telling vote in the GOP presidential contest. Newt Gingrich has dropped below Mitt Romney, Ron Paul–and a surprising surge from Rick Santorum to third place.
That led to Gingrich saying on NBC Nightly News that he would settle to place in the top four in Iowa and instead, he is looking to South Carolina. He told Chuck Todd, “Win South Carolina…everyone who has won South Carolina has been the nominee, every single one.”
In South Carolina, Gingrich has tapped State Representative Peter McCoy to be Lowcountry chairman for his South Carolina campaign. Rep. McCoy represents District 115 which currently includes James Island and Folly Beach.
Congressman Joe Wilson stopped by the studios today and we asked if he had picked a favorite in the race yet. He has not and had nice things to say about all of the candidates, but it he clearly would not pick Ron Paul.
“I disagree on his foreign policy. I really believe in the Reagan approach, peace through strength,” says Wilson.”
