Spartanburg County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Woodruff city council member Wednesday night after a domestic dispute at his home.
According to an incident report, a deputy was called out to Tony Kennedy’s home Wednesday night. Once there, Kennedy’s wife told the officer that an intoxicated Kennedy had argued with her about a cell phone. She said he grabbed her arm and acted as though to punch her, but retreated.
The report says Kennedy then went to his son’s room and demanded to know where the phone was. The son said his father became abusive– eventually grabbing the son’s arm and attempting to bite him.
The officer said he did not notice any marks on Kennedy’s wife, but found a bruise on the son’s arm. The deputy said Tony Kennedy was intoxicated. The councilman told him there had been an argument, but no violence. Mrs. Kennedy said her husband suffers from bi-polar disorder and depression.
He was charged with criminal domestic violence, first offense, and was released on a $2,100 bond.
