As the last votes came in from the Iowa Caucuses, Bachmann got 5 percent of the vote and her staff had to convince her to reconsider the race.
“I mean what I say and I say what I mean,” Bachmann said in a press conference today.
“Last night the people of Iowa spoke, so I have decided to step aside,” Bachmann said.

Bachmann was not able to sustain momentum after her win in the Iowa Straw Poll and upstaged by a state campaign leader publically defecting to the Ron Paul campaign. She also faced some opposition in an evangelical community who oppose the idea of women in leadership.
