A former Anderson County sheriff who also worked as a volunteer firefighter died after responding to a wreck Monday morning.
David Crenshaw died as he worked a car crash on SC Highway 88 near Pendleton. The Anderson County Coroner’s office says Crenshaw was helping the three victims in the crash when he collapsed. He was taken to an Anderson hospital in cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead when he arrived, the coroner’s office said.
Crenshaw served as Anderson County sheriff from 2004 to 2008. He was recently elected to serve on the Pendleton Town Council. He has been a long-time member of the Pendleton Fire Department, including leading the department as chief for 21 years.
He was 63 years old.
