“The majority of this is going to be talking about jobs,” Haley told reporters in a preview Wednesday, “It’s going to be talking about training. It’s going to be talking about creating a pro-business environment so that I can continue to bring these great companies in.”
She said she would also spend time talking about tax reform and the state’s pension system– which faces a $14 billion liability in the future.
Haley said she wants to spend at least some time on the federal lawsuits over South Carolina’s immigration and voter ID laws. “It took up a lot of my time… so to give a State of the State address without acknowledging some of those federal issues that got in the way would not be honest.”
State Rep. Bakari Sellers (D-Bamberg) will give the Democrats’ response afterwards.
