The South Carolina primary results are proving to be a game changer in the race for the Republican nomination. Mitt Romney’s frontrunner status is no more after a convincing victory for Newt Gingrich. Romney watched a double digit lead in the polls a week ago disappear in a matter of days, triggered in large part by two average debate performances in Myrtle Beach and Charleston.
Despite his second place finish Romney remains confident he will prevail and has already pivoted his attention to Florida.
