The Charleston County Sheriffs Office says it has suspended the search for a Mount Pleasant woman missing since her burned car was found last week.
After investigators discovered the body of 34-year-old David Hedrick Friday afternoon, police focused their efforts on finding his fiancé, 30-year-old Dara Watson. Hours later police say they found the Watson’s burned SUV in Francis Marion National Forest, but said they could find no sign of Watson.
The Sheriff’s Office eventually called off the search Sunday afternoon.
Even though these two incidents took place within hours of each other, police say it’s too soon to link them together. Watson was last seen on February 6 in Boone, NC by her mother. No one has heard from her since Wednesday.
Investigators also have not revealed how Hedrick died, although the Charleston Post & Courier reported that his body was found next to a 9-mm handgun.
