Veterans from around the state looking for a path to get back into the civilian workforce are expected to descend on the city of North Charleston for the Veterans Jobs Fair at the North Charleston Convention Center Wednesday February 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The job fair is the brainchild of First District Congressman Tim Scott. Scott has been helped in this undertaking by the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce, numerous area partners and veterans service organizations.
Along with veterans, men and women in uniform still on active duty that are able to attend are also invited. Scott says the vendors will be looking for veterans with a variety of skill sets and experience levels. Scott says his fervent hope is that the job fair will serve as a catalyst for the creation of a “network of opportunity” for veterans not only in the Lowcountry, but throughout South Carolina.
Scott says job seekers are encouraged to bring current resumes and references so that the information may be placed in the pipeline that will hopefully lead to various employment opportunities.
