Greenville-based BI-LO announced Monday that it has completed its merger with Winn Dixie stores. As part of the merger, the company says it plans to eventually make its permanent headquarters in Jacksonville, which is centrally located within its eight state operating area.
In a prepared release, the company stated that the Jacksonville-based infrastructure is best positioned to host the combined BI-LO and Winn Dixie support center, corporate office and distribution facilities. At the same time, the company says it plans to maintain a strong regional presence in Greenville both in regard to distribution and local store support needs.
As a result of the merger, BI-LO and Winn Dixie are now subsidiaries of the privately held parent company, BI-LO Holding– the 9th largest supermarket chain in the U.S. with 688 grocery stores in eight states throughout the Southeast.
