The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s office says it has seized the largest amount of marijuana in the history of the department.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says the department arrested an Orangeburg County man Wednesday night and seized 1000 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value of more than $3.7 million dollars.
“This is a good, but sad day in Orangeburg County,” Ravenell said in a press conference Thursday afternoon. “It’s good because we were able to stop 1000 pounds from hitting the streets in Orangeburg County; it’s sad because it made it this far.”
Deputies also seized of vehicles, a cargo trailer, electronic surveillance equipment and a rifle.
Berley O’Brian Greene, 37, has been charged with trafficking marijuana.
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the investigation, which is ongoing.
