A former Myrtle Beach police officer has pleaded guilty to felony DUI.
Larry Hardee, 63, pled guilty Monday as part of a plea agreement and was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Prosecutors say Hardee was intoxicated when he struck and killed a motorcyclist in North Myrtle Beach in May 2011.
The accident happened at the intersection of Sea Mountain Highway and Hill Street.
The victim, 49-year-old Rocky Huneycutt, was a corrections officer from North Carolina who was in town to attend a motorcycle rally.
Hardee was a member of the Myrtle Beach police force from July 1975 until June 1996 when he retired.
