Anderson County deputies say both inmates who escaped from an Upstate detention center over the weekend have been recaptured.
Authorities say 27-year-old Travis Foster and 35-year-old Jason Hughes escaped from the Anderson County Detention Center Sunday by chipping away a block in their cell with a metal table brace. They then went into an office and escaped through a window. Sheriff John Skipper said the cell was in a section built in 1956, where mortar around the blocks is getting brittle. Officials insist their facility is secure.
Oconee County Sheriff’s deputies said they found Foster after someone reported a suspicious man walking along a road near Seneca. Hughes was arrested in Kentucky Monday while he was driving truck officers say he stole from an Anderson equipment company.
Foster was in prison for violation of probation, breaking into a motor vehicle, and grand larceny. Hughes was in prison for failure to stop for blue lights, being a fugitive from justice (Stephens County, GA), and breaking into motor vehicles.
