Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott Tuesday announced a second arrest in a June 28 double-murder. Lott said tips from the community led to the July 5 arrest of 36-year-old DeAndre Leroy Diggs in connection with the June 28 incident that left two men dead and a woman severely injured. William Wallace was arrested the afternoon of the murders.
Both are charged with two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, three counts of kidnapping, and two counts of armed robbery. The two are charged in the shooting deaths of 23-year-old Jamal Pratt and 24-year-old Athell Johnson . The woman, who is the girlfriend of one of the victims, is in protective custody because she’s already had a threat against her life, the sheriff said.
According to investigators the suspects went to the apartment looking for drugs and money.
