Council members passed a second reading for a referendum on banning alcohol on Folly Beach. The special meeting on the referendum was held Wednesday night. Officials say they are hoping to leave the final decision up to voters by putting it on the ballot for the November election. Currently there is a 60-day ban in effect on all alcohol on the beach. The issue stems from a large fight on the Fourth of July that sent four officers and a deputy to the hospital. Several arrest were made as a result of the melee.
