The Hanahan Police Department will be charging three people with the Sunday murder of 71-year-old Roy Bennett. Investigators said they will charge 24-year-old Brittany Lynn Swagner, 24-year-old Robert Andrew McFadden and 39-year-old Robert Randolph Clark with Bennett’s murder. McFadden and Clark are currently being held in Berkeley County on unrelated charges. Investigators say the motive in Bennett’s murder was apparently money. Bennett was found dead in his Lombardi Lane home at around 1 p.m. Sunday. Authorities say Bennett had been duct taped and had a plastic bag over his head.
On Tuesday, a Goose Creek police officer found Bennett’s truck parked at the Walmart on Goose Creek. Hanahan Police says Clark and McFadden were seen on surveillance video shoplifting duct tape from a Walmart at around 7:30 p.m. Sunday morning. According to police officials, video shows a man dropping off Bennett’s truck at the department store’s parking lot around 4:25 p.m. on Sunday. Police say the man is then seen on video walking toward a nearby gas station.
