An inmate that escaped from a pre-release work program in Mount Pleasant last week was caught in a strip club Tuesday.
41-year-old Billy Jack Hanna was captured around 11:30 p.m., according to the South Carolina Department of Corrections. Officials say Hanna walked away from his pre-release job at Pleasant Places Lawn Care on September 5. He was serving a five-year sentence for grand larceny in Horry County.
In a statement from Surfside Beach Police, Chief Mike Frederick says a task force conducted undercover operations for six days before catching Hanna at a Myrtle Beach strip club. Frederick said investigators believe Hanna had been hiding out in an Horry County campground for several days and committed a burglary there, as well.
Hanna was scheduled to be released next July, but now faces additional charges.
