A Seneca man has been charged in the death of his 7-month-old niece.
Oconee County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 26-year-old McKenzie Turner and have charged him with murder by child abuse.
EMS was called to Turner’s home in Seneca early Sunday morning in response to a “child not breathing.”
The child was Turner’s 7-month-old niece Amy Genesis Stashluk of Fair Play. She was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital after briefly being treated by EMS.
Oconee County Coroner Karl E. Addis says the child was pronounced dead Monday night. A medical examination concluded that Stashluk died due to a non-accidental head injury.
Police arrested Turner on Tuesday. He is now being held without bond at the Oconee County Detention Center.
