The search for a Charleston County mother missing for eight months brought investigators to the Upstate over the weekend. However, they said they turned up no clues in their search.
Gayle McCaffrey, a mother of two, disappeared from her home in Charleston County on March 17. Investigators said the case became a homicide investigation in May. Her husband, Bob McCaffrey, is a suspect, according the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office. On Saturday, deputies from Charleston County, the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, and representatives from the CUE Center for Missing Persons conducted their search near Easley.
The search focused on more than 200 acres located off Freeman Bridge Road. According to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, some of that property belongs to relatives of Bob McCaffrey. Investigators say no new information led them to Pickens County; they are just trying to rule out the area.
Bob McCaffrey had been pulled over for speeding in the Upstate town of Travelers Rest a day before he reported his wife missing.
