Police say an Upstate woman was injured in a bizarre accident while acting as a Good Samaritan.
Spartanburg Public Safety officials say the incident happened after the woman stopped to help a man who had fallen near a Spartanburg hospital. Officers say the woman’s car rolled forward, running over both people. Police say the man was leaving Spartanburg Regional Medical Center on Tuesday and was near the outpatient area when he fell in the road.
When the woman stopped her car and got out to check on the man, officers say she likely forgot to put the car in “park.” She got stuck under the car after it rolled forward and she had to be extricated by firefighters and EMS workers.
The man and woman were taken into Spartanburg Regional. She suffered a broken hip and broken leg. Officers said the man had no obvious injuries.
The names of the victims have not yet been released.
