A Conway father is facing manslaughter charges after his child was fatally shot with a gun the man owns.
The Horry County Coroner’s Office identified the two-year-old boy as Sincere Smith. He would have turned three in March. Horry County Police say they think the toddler shot himself in the chest on Christmas Day. Police say the child shot himself with a handgun that was sitting on a table. He later died on the way to the Medical University of South Carolina hospital in Charleston.
Police say the gun belonged to 30-year-old Rondell Smith, identified as the boy’s father. Smith has been charged with involuntary manslaughter. He was later released on a $500 personal recognizance bond on Wednesday.
