A Bennettsville man has been arrested in connection with the death last week of his 8 year old son.
The State Law Enforcement Division announced that 30-year-old Justin Curtis Brueger of Bennettsville was arrested Wednesday and charged with one count of unlawful conduct towards a child, which is a felony with penalties of up to 10 years in prison plus fines.
The charge stems from the December 30 death of 8-year-old Easton Brueger. According to SLED, the elder Brueger was “unsafely cleaning his rifle” when it accidently fired and the shot hit his son in the stomach. Easton died shortly afterwards.
Brueger was booked at the Marlboro County Detention Center.
