Winthrop University is closer to naming its new president.
It is down to four finalists for the next president of Winthrop University to succeed Dr. Anthony DiGiorgio, who led the public university in Rock Hill for 24 years.
The finalists are:
- Jeffrey Braden; dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at North Carolina State University
- Jayne Marie Comstock; Director of the Executive Leadership Group with the American Council on Education in Washington, D.C.
- Elizabeth Dale; Vice President of Advancement at Drexel University
- Ulysses Hammond; Vice President for Administration at Connecticut College.
Each of the candidates will be in Rock Hill next week for visits with faculty, staff, students and the public. It will then be up to the Winthrop University Board of Trustees to choose the 127-year-old institution’s 10th president.
The board said it will make its choice in late February.
