A Spartanburg mom has been arrested after walking into a school and slapping the wrong child.
Spartanburg County deputies say the incident happened after 36-year-old Tyshekka Collier went to Fairforest Middle School Wednesday morning to pick up her son who was being suspended from the school. The Associated Press first reported that Collier walked into the school, but mistook another boy for her son and slapped him in the face. That boy was sick and had his head down on the couch as he waited for a ride home.
An incident report says that, after Collier realized her mistake, she apologized then walked over to her son and “began to slap him for getting into trouble.” The school’s principal called deputies shortly afterward.
Collier is charged with disturbing school and assault and battery.
Her three children are in protective custody, deputies say.
