Kim Stenson is the new director of the South Carolina Emergency Management Division and will be in charge of emergency and disaster consequence management planning and response and recovery operations for the state of South Carolina.
The agency also coordinates with emergency managers at the local and national levels.
Stenson was tapped by Gov. Nikki Haley and State Adjutant General Robert E. Livingston, Jr. last week.
According to the governer’s office announcement, Stenson joined SCEMD in 1998 after he retired from active duty in the U.S. Army.
He was appointed Chief of Staff in 2008 after a series of leadership positions.
