The rapper known as “DMX” has been arrested in Greenville County Wednesday evening.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol charged the 42-year-old rapper (whose legal name is Earl Simmons) with DUI, driving without a driver’s license, and not wearing a seatbelt.
It’s Simmons’ second arrest in less than six months. He was arrested in Greer last February for suspicion of driving without a license. He paid a fine and was then released.
According to Sergeant Bob Beres, a trooper received a report of a possible DUI driver Wednesday night. The trooper found Simmons and observed him driving erratically. Upon stopping the vehicle, the trooper then administered a field sobriety test which Simmons failed.
Beres said the trooper arrested Simmons and subsequently transported him to the Greenville County Detention Center.
According to jail records, Simmons has been released.
