Greer Police say the rapper who goes by the name DMX was arrested again in the Upstate Tuesday night.
Earl Simmons was a passenger in a truck that was stopped just before midnight for an improper U-turn. A police spokesman said that, when officers saw Simmons was in the truck, they realized he had an outstanding warrant for driving under suspension. The officers said they also spotted a bag of marijuana inside the truck. Both Simmons and the driver were charged with simple possession of marijuana.
Simmons has been arrested three times in the past year on driving charges. He was charged in Spartanburg County back in February with suspicion of driving without a license. Then Greenville County deputies charged him with DUI in after a stop last month, as well as driving without a license and not wearing a seatbelt.
The celebrity news site TMZ posted what it said was a bystander’s footage of the incident. In the video, a man identified as Simmons is clearly not happy with the Greer officers. “This ain’t no normal traffic stop,” he can be heard yelling. “18 cops, 5 cars, get the (expletive) out of here man.”
He also said the driver did nothing wrong and the car should not have been pulled over in the first place. “It was legal… they got nothing,” he tells the person filming the incident.
