Gov. Nikki Haley and two of her guest speakers took questions from the media before her campaign kick-off event in downtown Greenville. Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal sat on a riser with Haley between them as they faced a mix of local, state and national press.
Perry, who may try to run for president again, said about Haley, “She makes us nervous—and that’s a good thing.”
Haley batted down questions of her intentions to run for national office and that her guest governors are her friends. She did travel to Wisconsin to rally with Gov. Scott Walker when he faced a recall vote. Walker spoke at the campaign event later, but did not join the press conference.
