The Bi-Lo Center in Greenville has a new name for the first time in its 15-year history.
The Greenville Area District Board, which controls the 15,000-seat arena in downtown Greenville, voted Wednesday to approve a new naming-rights deal with the Bon Secours Health System. According to an announcement shortly after the vote, the facility will now be named the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
Bon Secours, which is headquartered in Maryland, operates the Bon Secours St. Francis hospital in Greenville.
The arena’s President and General Manager Roger Newton said the health system is paying $4.5 million over 10 years for the naming rights.
“Bon Secours is a great community citizen. We’re pairing one community partner with another,” he said Wednesday, according to the arena’s Twitter feed.
The Bi-Lo grocery chain’s 15-year naming-rights deal expired in September.
