An Abbeville County man faces charges after state police say he burned down a restaurant he owns in Due West earlier this week.
State Law Enforcement Division agents arrested 56-year-old Sevastos Stelianos Tuesday on a third-degree arson charge. According to an arrest warrant, SLED investigators were looking into a suspicious fire that heavily damaged Theo’s Restaurant on Monday. They determined that the blaze had been intentionally set.
The warrant states that Stelianos admitted starting the fire when interviewed by agents.
Investigators did not release a motive, but business records with the Secretary of State’s Office list Stelianos as the owner of Theo’s Pizza of Due West, LLC. He faces 15 years in prison, if convicted.
The pizza and seafood restaurant, which is located near the Erskine College campus, is closed for now.
There is another Theo’s location in the town of Abbeville, but a manager there said the two businesses are separate.
