A judge says Congressman Mark Sanford and his ex-wife have now agreed to mediate the legal issues over the parenting of their four sons.
This comes three days after Sanford took to Facebook to blame his ex-wife Jenny for sabotaging his relationship with Maria Chapur. The congressman revealed on Friday that he had ended his engagement with the woman he infamously traveled to Argentina to meet in 2009. Sanford insisted he was calling off his engagement because of the dispute with his ex-wife.
The Sanfords divorced in 2010.
Attorneys representing Jenny Sanford have asked a Family Court judge to limit the former governor’s visitation with his youngest child, stipulating that the son could not spend the night with either parent if that parent was also with someone who “could reasonably be construed as a paramour.” The filing also requested that Mark Sanford undergo psychological tests and take anger management courses. Rep. Sanford called the conditions “preposterous.”
The Associated Press reports that Family Court Judge Daniel Martin said both Sanfords have agreed to settle the issue through mediation. The judge said another request to seal the case is still pending.
