The 2014 edition of the South Carolina State Fair is underway and for the first time the fair is going pink for breast cancer awareness.
Fair Assistant General Manager Nancy Smith said they’re honoring folks who have been personally affected by the disease.
She said preparations to make the fair pink actually started several months ago.
Smith said the fair will feature a number of concerts for a variety of musical taste. Jennifer Nettles and Lee Brice are the only two concerts that charge admission, while the rest of the concerts are free.
It wouldn’t be the fair if you didn’t have the corn dogs, the elephant ears, and the “any way you like’em” french fries. Visitors may also want to sample some of the new foods being offered this year.
The fair will continue to have a youth entry policy in effect this year. For entry on the fairgrounds, any person under the age of 18 must be accompanying by a parent of 21 years of age or older after 7PM.
The fair will ends its 12-day run on Sunday October 19th.
