Texas Governor Rick Perry will swing through several events along the South Carolina coast this week on Tuesday and Wednesday as the Republican continues preparations for a possible presidential run in 2016.
Perry will headline a Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Tuesday. The organization said it regularly extends invitations to prospective statewide and national candidates to spend time with Myrtle Beach area business leaders. The lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel.
A day later, Perry will give a speech at the Crazy Crab Seafood Restaurant on Hilton Head Island, according to the Island Packet newspaper, around 11:30 a.m. He’ll then make a short jaunt up the road to a meet-and-greet hosted by the Greater Bluffton Republican Club at the Rose Hill Golf Club around 2:30 p.m.
Perry last visited South Carolina in August, when he made several appearances at SCGOP events around Columbia. The governor was also in town at the time to watch his alma mater Texas A&M play South Carolina’s football team.
Perry canvassed the Palmetto State regularly during an unsuccessful 2012 presidential bid, but dropped out of the race just two days before the South Carolina primary after faltering poll results.
