The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office is now confirming that three University of South Carolina-Upstate student athletes were well above the state’s legal blood-alcohol limit at the time of a crash that killed them and a fourth athlete last October.
Coroner Rusty Clevenger made the findings public in a report issued Monday, four months after the crash that killed soccer players James Campbell and Horace Sproull IV, as well as women’s tennis athlete Sarah Vande Berg and USC-Upstate cross-country runner Josh Lee.
