A former state trooper pleads guilty to assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature for the 2014 shooting an unarmed black driver seconds after a traffic stop. Sean Groubert faces up to 20 years in prison. The 2014 shooting came amid increased racially-tinged tensions over the treatment of minorities by white law enforcement officers. In this case, Groubert stopped Levar Jones as he was exiting his car in a gas station parking lot. Dashcam video shows the trooper asking Jones for his license, then suddenly yelling for him to get out of the car.
