A Chinese plastic molding supplier hopes to eventually create 150 jobs when it breaks ground Tuesday on a new $45 million facility near Greer.
Jiangnan Mold Plastic Technology Corporation announced Monday it will open a 260,000 square-foot plant to manufacture plastic molding parts for suppliers in the automotive industry. The new plant will be operated by the company’s American subsidiary Minghua, according to Spartanburg County Economic Recruitment Committee Chairman David Britt.
“This is our first big Chinese manufacturing company here,” Britt, a Spartanburg County councilman, told South Carolina Radio Network. “It expands our international résumé.”
The plant is expected to be operational by the second half of next year. Jiangnan officials said they plan to hire 150 employees over the next five years.
Minghua plans to hold a groundbreaking Tuesday at the future site between the towns of Duncan and Greer. The site is less than three miles from BMW’s manufacturing plant in Greer.
