Investigators have not yet identified a pilot who was killed when a small plane crashed in a Greenville County field this weekend.
The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said the plane crashed Sunday evening near Belton, about 20 miles south of Greenville. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office said one person was aboard, but they have not yet publicly identified the victim.
The crash occurred near the private Oak Hall airpark, but it’s not clear if the plane was trying to use landing strip.
Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash. There was no immediate information about the plane’s identification number or its itinerary.
The Dunklin Fire Department responded to the crash.
