Law enforcement says that it believes Brittanee Drexel of Rochester, New York was killed in 2009 after a trip to Myrtle Beach.
The FBI announced Wednesday that it is offering a $25,000 reward in the case.
FBI special agent in charge David Thomas says they hope someone will talk. “The public needs to know. The family needs to know. And we need to come forward with as much information as possible to try and get someone in the community to come forward,” Thomas said Wednesday.
It is the first time since Drexel went missing that authorities said that she was killed.
Thomas said they have her cell phone records that pinpoints where she was. “We do know that Brittanee was in this community for several days. It wasn’t just a one-time passing through,” said Thomas.
Drexel disappeared from Ocean Boulevard on April 25, 2009. She was 17 years old when she went to Myrtle Beach for spring break.
