When temperatures fall, excitement for the South Carolina State Fair rises. The fair will debut many new features this year to keep the longest running festival in the the state fresh for even seasoned state fair goers. The fair will run from October 12-23.
Two new performance groups will appear at the state fair. The King BMX Stunt Show will have bikers doing flips and twists on several types of ramps. For a more cultural experience, the Kenya Safari Acrobats will perform dances, magic and acrobatics. Music lovers will get to Lynard Skynard and Alabama debut on the SC Grand Stand.
There will be twelve new foods at the state fair. The fair’s marketing director Stephanie Owens told South Carolina Radio Network she’s interested to try the new Savory Sundaes, composed of potatoes, steak, eggs and cheese as well as the spicy Sriracha chicken and waffle sliders. Of course, “we’ll have the favorites: the elephant ears, cotton candy, candy apples and all that good stuff as well,” Owens said.
The final day for discount admission tickets is October 11. You can pick up discounted tickets at scstatefair.org and any Walgreens store. If you miss out on the discounted ticket, there is a special promotion for $1 tickets on opening day. Admission for veterans and their dependents will be free for the entire duration of the fair.
For the first time ever, thrill-seekers at can exchange ride vouchers for unlimited ride passes everyday of the fair. Previously unlimited ride passes were only available on weekdays.
