The fund which started after last year’s devastating floods will be available to help victims of Hurricane Matthew in South Carolina.
The One SC Fund is a fundraising effort operated by the Central Carolina Community Foundation that helps South Carolinians who are recovering from a disaster, such as Hurricane Matthew and the devastating October 2015 floods.
“They’ve agreed to expand the fund to help support nonprofit organizations providing relief and recovery assistance to those impacted by this hurricane,” state Department of Administration Director Marcia Adams said.
The One SC Fund was first used last year to support those nonprofit organizations providing relief and recovery assistance to flood victims in the 24 FEMA-designated emergency counties. Individuals do not apply directly to the fund for assistance.
The fund has distributed $2 million in grants to nonprofits to support flood recovery projects across the state that have helped over 1,500 families return home.
“We expect that we can produce the same results for those affected by the hurricane,” Adams said.
